The fundamental originality of Haïdouti Orkestar is that they have skilfully gathered together artists from every cultural background, from the music of the Balkans to that of the Romany people. In this melting pot, there is a desire to question as a group a repertoires from cultures that are real as well as imaginary.
Whether in the orchestra or on stage, the line-up revisits the vast musical heritage of the Ottoman Empire in Europe in a exhilarating search for a common spirit that links different types of music from around the Mediterranean. Gradually, as we go from Bulgarian themes to Turkish rhythms, from the Turkish language to Serbo-Croatian, from Thracian songs to popular Macedonian melodies, Haïdouti Orkestar takes us on a journey through different nations but also through different repertoires (popular and classical music, Romany music) and give us a new perspective on the Balkans.
